The type of gown you choose will also dictate what type of shoe you will need. First and foremost, it is important to ensure that the color of your shoe match your dress perfectly. This means taking a sample of your dress fabric with you when you go shoe shopping. Next, does your gown allow for shoe visibility? If so, you will need to take your shoe selection more seriously. Then, determine whether or not there are embellishments on your gown that your shoes might compete with. If your gown is simple, you can add some pizzazz to your shoes to jazz up your look. However, if your gown is ornate, stick to a more simple yet stylish shoe so as not to compete with the gown. As far as the heel height goes, it is important to ensure that your shoes lift you up off the floor enough that your gown doesnt drag the ground, unless its designed to do so. This will make walking easier. If you are uncomfortable in heels, choose a shorter heel or even flats, but ensure that the shoe is a complementary style to the gown.
