Rap, musical design in which balanced and rhyming speech is chanted (rapped) to musical accompaniment. This backing music, which can include digital sampling (music and sounds extracted from other recordings), is likewise called hip-hop, the name utilized to refer to a more comprehensive cultural movement that includes rap, deejaying (turntable adjustment), graffiti painting, and break dancing.
